This past weekend, we had the immense privilege of representing SportsUganda Ltd UK and Sembeza Africa ASBL at the Kingdom of Buganda 31st Anniversary Coronation 7s, held at the historic Mutesa II Stadium Wankulukuku in Uganda. It was an honor to participate in such a momentous event and to hand out the awards for the women’s and men’s MVPs.
As we arrived at the stadium, the atmosphere was electric. The vibrant colors of the team jerseys, the rhythmic sounds of traditional Buganda music, and the cheers of enthusiastic fans created an unforgettable backdrop for the day’s festivities. The Coronation 7s is not just a rugby tournament; it is a celebration of culture, unity, and the enduring legacy of the Buganda Kingdom.
The competition was fierce, showcasing the best of rugby talent from across the region. Teams battled it out on the pitch with incredible skill, determination, and sportsmanship. Each match was a testament to the hard work and dedication of the players, coaches, and supporters who have nurtured the sport’s growth in Uganda.
One of the highlights of our day was meeting Hugo RCL, whose presence added an extra layer of excitement to the event. His contributions to rugby have inspired countless young athletes, and it was a pleasure to see him engaging with fans and players alike.
When the time came to present the MVP awards, we felt a deep sense of pride. The recipients, both in the women’s and men’s categories, exemplified the spirit of the game. Their performances were nothing short of spectacular, and they stood as role models for aspiring rugby players everywhere.
For the women’s MVP, seeing the joy and tears of gratitude as she accepted her award was heartwarming. Her journey, marked by perseverance and passion, was a story that resonated with many. The men’s MVP, on the other hand, displayed remarkable leadership and athleticism, qualities that undoubtedly contributed to his team’s success.
Our organizations, SportsUganda Ltd UK and Sembeza Africa ASBL are dedicated to supporting sports development and fostering cross-cultural connections through athletic endeavors. Being part of this event was a reaffirmation of our mission. It highlighted the power of sports to bring people together, transcend boundaries, and create lasting bonds.
As we reflect on the Kingdom of Buganda 31st Anniversary Coronation 7s, we are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such a significant celebration. We look forward to continuing our support for sports in Uganda and beyond, and to witnessing more moments of triumph and unity on and off the field.
Thank you to everyone who made this event possible, and to the Kingdom of Buganda for their warm hospitality. Here’s to many more years of celebrating excellence in sports!
